All About Black Triangle Removal

What is a Black Triangle?

We hear from many people about the dark space or  “dental black triangles” that they see between their teeth. Unfortunately, our eye is drawn to these dark spaces.  It makes the teeth look older than they are. The contrast between white teeth, pink gums and the dark space draws in your gaze.

Space between the lower front teeth is called a dental black triangle.

Black triangle fixed with our special process and skill.

Why do I have black triangle shaped spaces between my teeth?

R
The shape of the teeth. If your teeth are sort of fan shaped, they connect with one another at the chewing surface but not near the gum line, leaving a larger gap between teeth.
R
Gum recession. Black triangles appear when the gums surrounding your teeth begin to recede due to gum disease or bite-related problems.
R
Orthodontic treatment. Sometimes when crowded adult teeth are straightened, the gums between the teeth aren’t thick enough to fill in the space.

How big of a problem is Black Triangles?

One-third of adults suffer from black triangles. The problem with them is that besides being unsightly and prematurely aging the smile, black triangles tend to accumulate food debris and excessive plaque in them. The top three cosmetic defects that patients complain of:
  1. Visible cavities
  2. Dark lines around the edges of crown
  3. Black triangles

What are the options to fix dental black triangles?

In the past, the fix for black triangles was putting crowns or porcelain veneers on the teeth and while we can get exceptionally beautiful results with these, we are always looking for more conservative alternatives. And, we have found it. We us a special system that can offer an alternative to veneers or crowns that provide unparalleled results with a minimally invasive process that will close these black triangles and dramatically improve your smile. The black triangle is filled with a glassy smooth and anatomically shaped composite resin material. This process will close the space and dramatically brighten your smile.
